I used to laugh alongside my dad as he poked fun at my mom and her “goddamn greens.” Even when we ordered pizza she’d insist on making a salad, or something else nice and green, to go with it.

Yes! Gianni’s Pizza on Northern Boulevard. They make very, very, decent pizza. A classic New York slice. They even have a lovely garden out back that’s open for dining in clement weather.
Maybe it was a 70’s thing? or a brookline thing? but i remember that even though ordering a pizza was a regular event in our house, it had to be consumed with a salad that my Dad would make. or some sort of veggie side that Phyllis would whip together. To this day i still can’t eat pizza wtihout a green side either….
