Penne_Brussels_Pancetta_IMG_7322We couldn’t wait to open up the Cape this year. It was freezing, but as always, it felt like coming home after a long dark winter.

My parents made dinner together, which is weird. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them cook with each other before. I can’t say that it was a beautiful, harmonious scene, but the meal they pulled off was great.

My dad made Penne with Brussels Sprouts, Chile and Pancetta from the New York Times (of course). My mom made mustard greens, she’s the greens lady.

The pasta was really interesting in a totally unexpected way, aside from the fact that you might not think to combine pasta and brussels sprouts. At the table, you drizzle the pasta dish with lemon juice and then top with grated pecorino. It doesn’t seem right, but it works.
